Bahia Grass is a tropical to subtropical grass. It’s super hardy, likes sandy soil, and can handle shade unlike many other grasses. It’s native to Mexico and South America but it can be found all over North America – including Zone 9b. It’s best recognized by the V-shaped head called an ‘inforescence’. I love when Bahia Grass gets really tall and it’s waving in the wind but my allergies hate it as it’s a common allergen for those of us with seasonal allergies.
